Be True in your Relationships

There are times when even people of tremendous good will do not see things the same way.  Even as they seek to align their minds with reality, they struggle to arrive at the same conclusions.  As people of faith we understand this well, and we know that the answer is not always compromise.  It is important that each person is faithful to their own quest to know what is real in ever deeper ways and never be forced to lie about what they perceive.  At the same time, we’ve learned that it is possible to be true—or be faithful—to relationships even in the midst of disagreement.  Being true requires the capacity to hang in there with each other in tough times, to assume the other’s goodwill whenever possible, and to look for ways to love and build bridges with one another in the hope of finding common ground not immediately evident.
